Asus P5SD2-VM critical problem pls help.?

hi guys, i recently buy a asus p5sd2-vm motherboard with this i have processor p4 2.66ghz 533 fsb and ram 1gb ddr2 667mhz and 40 gb hdd.after i install xp & mobo driver, xp loading is too slow & nothing to play any games like roadrash,project igi,max payne 1,2 (full of lag) like low graphics game then sometimes pc hang then i go to service center they said my hdd pcb is damage.is it true i dont know.but i am really afraid if i buy a new hdd then my prob cant solve then what happen.pls help guys, what should i do.
