Which is better? A diploma in Marine Engineering or The B.E in Marine Engineering?

I just gave my 12th Std. boards and i want to join the merchant navy in the deck side. I would like to know which would be better, the diploma or the B.E in marine engineering? I am looking at two colleges- MANET PUNE and AMET Chennai which is in affiliation with MCA, UK. Which of the two institutes is good?
