What Are Sororities Really Like?

ive heard alot about soroities and most of my knowledge of them is from movies and shows like greek. are soroities really like they are portrayed in these movies/shows? or is alot of really really bad hazing going on? like i heard they circle the fat on your body and make you lose the wieght in order to join or just humiliate you. i would like to join one but i want to know if they really are that bad, or if thats all just rumors. and what r recomendations for a soroity? like who could recomend you? i want to join one because they look like alot of fun and you meet lots of new people, someone please help?
